OKUNOKENTARO

Kentaro Okuno is the President and Representative Director of Cresware Inc., a technical advisor, and a Web Application Architect. With a dual background as both a musician and an architect, he leverages his unique experience to center his business activities around the synergy of "Expression and Structure."

Born on March 1 March 1988, in Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan.

His engagement with technology began at the age of four when he first used a computer mouse and experimented with music composition via "Mario Paint" on the Super Famicom. At age six, he gained his first programming experience using HyperCard on a Macintosh Centris 650. In 2000, he began composing music using synthesizers and the piano, continuing to perform in wind instrument and light music clubs during his student years. During the same period, he taught himself HTML and CSS to establish a website for showcasing his creative works.

Pursuing a career in music, he enrolled in the Composition Department of AN Music School Kyoto in 2006. He studied popular music and piano under Kunihiro Kameda, and digital music under Masaharu Kato. From 2010, he studied harmony and orchestration under Yuri Fujibayashi, further expanding his expressive and technical range.

He entered the music industry in 2009, commencing his career as a composer. He produced theme songs and game music for various platforms, including Android applications and PlayStation Portable software. His diverse professional experience also includes wedding BGM production, theatrical sound design, sound effects creation, live performance, and orchestral assistant duties.

Concurrently, he began working as a freelance web designer in 2006, contributing to the design of numerous corporate and e-commerce websites while mastering jQuery, PHP, and WordPress. To improve efficiency in his music-related tasks, he undertook a serious study of programming, developing tools based on his acquired technical knowledge. During this process, he mastered Objective-C and TypeScript.

In 2014, he shifted his professional focus toward engineering, undertaking contract projects for web application development using AngularJS. In 2015, he founded "ng-kyoto," an officially recognized Angular Japan User Group based in Kyoto, and served as its representative.

Starting in 2015, he served as a Front-end Engineer at Chatwork Co., Ltd. (now kubell Co., Ltd.). In 2017, he joined PixelGrid Inc. as a Front-end Engineer. In both roles, he was involved in the development and architectural design of large-scale web applications. He also expanded his technical repertoire by acquiring proficiency in Rust and Scala.

In August 2018, he established his private practice under the trade name "Cresware." He incorporated the business as Cresware Inc. in 2021. Currently, as the President and Representative Director, he provides technical advisory services, web application development support, architectural design consultancy, and developer training.

With over 10 years of experience as a Lead Engineer and Architect, he specializes in the design and optimization of large-scale applications exceeding 200,000 lines of code. He has contributed to products across diverse sectors, including chat services, restaurant management systems, and enterprise internal systems for major corporations. At Tresta, Inc., he supported the overall service architecture and technical decision-making for over seven years.

He is also an active contributor to the technical community, developing and publishing Open Source Software (OSS), authoring technical articles and commercial books, speaking at conferences, and organizing events. He is the author of "Angular Developer's Guide" (published by Impress). He has published over 180 articles on Zenn and has twice completed the "TypeScript Solo Advent Calendar." Additionally, he hosted the podcast "Radio: Living with Refactoring" for two years, focusing on themes of refactoring and design.

In the field of music, he holds the AMEI Certified MIDI Instructor qualification and MIDI Grade 1 certification. He previously served as an instructor in the Digital Music Department at the School of Music Plan. He was also the recipient of the Roland Special Award at Web Music Hackathon #5.
